Let me qualify the review.
I really like action caper films, I have no issue with ‘Criminals as heros’ in the world of fiction.
However,
As the film ends, I thought, this is the most amoral film that I have seen for many years.
In almost every other caper film the criminals don’t get away entirely free, they are either caught or pay a heavy price for their crimes.
The perfect example of this would be ‘The Italian Job’, we root for the thieves, they are the hero’s, but in the end.....
In this film, not only do the protagonists win...big... there is no price to pay. It’s as if there was no victim at all, yet they’ve taken millions upon millions.
Almost worse than this, they break the criminal code and literally fit up someone to go to jail.
Of course, he is a man and thus must be nasty and evil whereas the women, con artists and thieves all, are good and pretty.
Shockingly poor.
