I watched Annette last night.
I love how it had a cheesy trailer that made it look like a drama about a male comedian and a femme opera singer who fall in love. 😒 I was so not down and then I was like oh wait Leo Carax directed this?
Ok it gon be wild.
It was totally not that. It was a meta-musical with hallucinatory editing and impeccable theatrical sets. Very ironic and the hetero plot was violently deconstructed into a homoerotic relationship revolving around the exploitation of a magic child celebrity who is played by a creepy and exquisite puppet that gives off Charlie Kaufman vibes.
This film got me tender and hard.
