This show is amazing. I first found it by watching Heechul compilations on Youtube, but then I found them on Netflix, and I was so excited. My personal favorite Korean variety show, too! I also think that it's cool that they openly talk about things that other Koreans wouldn't. For example, smoking, gambling, and debt, but they are fine with it as all of the cast are very good friends and some used to smoke or gamble. I also got into Super Junior because of Heechul. Everybody is easygoing, and there is not a single episode that is boring. KB likes to have fun, be themselves, and joke around. I would reccomend this to K-pop fans and just to anybody in general, because they invite stars like BTS, Super Junior, BtoB, INFINITE, (rip), I.O.I, (rip) g.o.d, KYOTE, I.U, Wheesung, actresses, actors, comedians, and many others!
Profile of the cast:
Kim Hee-chul: Crazy, savage, star of the universe, milky skin Kim Heechul, singer of the group Super Junior, otaku , loves girl groups and dances to all their songs such as Twice's Cheer Up, Red Velvet's Ice Cream Cake, and such. He debuted as an actor in Sharp 2, before being in Super Junior, and has acted in multiple dramas since then, but quit because he gets too into the characters (Ex. played a mentally ill person once, might have hit close to home for him *cry cry*) He is very feminine. He used to smoke, but he's ok now :)
Min Kyung-hoon: Known as Ssamja or Ssamgu, he is part of the group Buzz, and sings with his mic to his forehead, and Heechul loves to imitate him. He also is terrible at acting. He and Heechul are very good at singing high notes.
Seo Jang-hoon: Very tall, at 207 cm, incredibly rich, divorce, used to be a basketball player.
Kang Ho-dong: He is one of S. Korea's most well known variety show hosts. Hosting Star King along with Leeteuk (one of the Super Junior members), he was very sucsessful. He also hosts Let's Eat Dinner Together. He used to be a Korean wrestler in sserium. In Star King, he was exessive to the guests, and whenever he did something that bothered them in a way, they became a 'Star King victim.' An example is that IU came on Star King, and he wouldn't let her talk for 10 hours straight.
Lee Soo-geun: short, used to gamble. He is a comedian.
Lee Sang-min: Has debt to pay, but I'm not sure if he payed it off. He was in the long forgotton Kpop group Roora.
Kim Yeong-cheol or Kim Young-chul: He is branded the useless, unfunny, ugly person in the cast, but they're joking. He is a comidian.
(Also, Heechul and Kyunghoon are the youngest at 35 and 33, and the rest of the cast are in their 40's.)
There is only 1 or 2 things i don't like about the Netflix import though.
- Music licencing: I've also been on the JTBC channel on YT, and I realized that the idol's music has been replaced with royalty free music. For example, I was so excited to have Super Junior perform Black Suit at the end of the show, but they cut it off. This is a typical case, along with if somebody is dancing, the song is replaced with copyright free music.
- Arrangment of episodes: The way S. Korea and Netflix arranges the episodes are different, and I don't enjoy it. (not to be mean) For example, Kyunghoon wasn't set to be a fixed member, only a replacement for one of the hosts that had to quit due to busy schedules. In episode 1, season 1, Kyunghoon wasn't there, but ep 2, he was. I personally think that Netflix should arrange it so it's set how S. Korea has their episodes fixed, because they are filmed every week so they sometimes talk about events or what happened the week before, but if a Netflix watcher hasn't watched that episode, they might be confused. An example when Super Junior came on the show to celebrate the 100th episode, (Season 2, episode 29 or 30) but the number of episodes on Netflix didn't match up. (But we can't always get our way, but it's ok too)
Either than that, Knowing Brothers is an amazing show. If you want clips and comps of Knowing Bros, or Heechul on KB, you can go to Youtube and search up 'Heenim 8' or 'Heechul jjang'.
