I dont get the hate Onward is getting. It is a movie that (for me) didn't disappoint. Watching the trailer I didn't suspect a theme such as Brotherly Love. I thought it would be one of those bring back magic and deceased love one generic type (But it isnt YAY!) and by the time the movie ended, im crying ugly tears.
The animation is phenomenal, the characters are adorable and relatable. Like how we can over look the simple little things our family members do for us out of their love (as a teen i related sooo much and reflected on how i treat and view my love ones), how we shouldn't forget about our roots, our beginnings, our past, how you should never give up on someone, and so much more.
I loved how there is no actual villain! But time.
Time is a female dog (wink).
No matter how hard you work for something, if its too late, its too late. We're in a race with time. And there are moments that i wished "oh please freeze the clock with your magic, YOU NEED TO SEE YOUR DAD" but life just doesnt work that way (even with a world of magic). You need to exercise them legs (wings in this movie) and get going!
As a teen, it made me want to cherish every moment with my family, especially dad. I grew up without him and grew distant with him.(its a long story) He's back for good but i just.. treat him bad. (sorry dad). But i know even without a dad, i did have father figures in my life, in the image of my uncle, grandfather, and my amazing full time mom. I can already see how much childen would be touched and will think how much they love their parents, siblings, BROTHERS, and cherish each moment with them.
This movies hits home for me. It is wonderful and lovely. I loved every bit of it. This is a movie i wish i would have watched when i was a kid. <3
