(Spoiler free) Eternals is Marvels latest attempt to do something different, and they do a whole lot of different, compared to previous films.
I'm glad to see they have deeper characters with conflicts internally with the team and themselves with some deeper philosophical dilemmas we're not used to with other MCU "action packed" films. Characters are more relatable, ironic because they're some of the strongest we've ever seen and aren't human.
Some critiques include: CGI of Angelina Jolie gets messy, flying objects/beings are messy, and story can feel dramatically sped up at times (There's a scene in the third act where you feel like, "woah okay that was dealt with simpler than expected"). There was room for improvement in the third act to allow the audience to digest the actions and conflicts but also heighten the conflicts tension.
Anyone that's witnessed the media giant of the MCU should see Eternals to appreciate a new taste. We've got enough of the old formula movies to watch when we want a classic, and I'm beyond glad to watch the MCU take on other types of characters with different backgrounds, cultures, and mental health issues relating to their past. It's authentic, it's relatable, and it's refreshing.
