Excellent story based on true experiences of Fred's family during the depression. Easy to identify with young boy growing up trying to help his father realize a more just society in the midst of poverty, racism and ignorance. It also reminds us that Texas was the home of many experiments in socialism which were greeted with the same ignorance and violence we see today.
