Melly Howard (Sultana)

If you are one of the older Sonic fans who grew up with the original anime, OVA, old games, etc., do know that this movie is not catered to your sort of audience -- it is catered to the newer generations. Regardless, the movie is pretty solid but not without error. The movie is quite humorous and is a lot of fun. The plot is kind of typical, but I think that the work on making the humans in this film interesting was done rather well. Their stories are not boring, and are very realistic, even in regards to Dr. Robotnik. I do have to say that it's a little too child-friendly and probably could have appealed to older audiences a little more. Sonic is portrayed too child-like for my tastes and some of the jokes are really dry (farting, Fortnite dancing, etc.). I think the worst factor was Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik. I love Jim Carrey, but in this movie I really wanted to see Dr. Robotnik as the character.. Not Jim Carrey? They allowed Jim to do "his thing" of making silly faces and actions in this movie which led to a serious symptom of uncanny valley in regards to Dr. Robotnik. It really ruined Dr. Robotnik for me, and he was the one character I was very hyped up to see and enjoy. 4/5.
