The Batman is another near perfect comic book movie. A detective-noir, thriller, The Batman strives to create a dark gothic world, while still feeling grounded and real. Gotham has never felt so alive and lived in. The movie also focuses on Batman, which to be honest, has been lacking since Batman begins, I'd argue before 'the batman' begins was the only one to attempt to delve into his character as a main focus. The Batman shows a young and inexperienced Batman, still trying to find his way in Gotham, who he is and what he's trying to represent. The Batman is very plot heavy, but also very character heavy. People may look at these scenes as filler, but they truly add the final product, you won't care about the characters in the end without everything you see in the film. All the supporting cast are great, some could have had more screen time and more interactions, but outside of that, i have no real issues with the movie. It's about time we got a true Batman movie. I'd argue it's also one of the greatest movies in general.

This is just a great film. With its long runtime the movie focuses on character, mixed in with the great acting spills out stellar performances. Cyborg is the heart of the film, following his resentment and shame. We also see flash as a bumbling superhero to the hero of the story. Aqua man being trapped between Atlantis and the surface world, leaving him bitter, especially towards the Atlantian’s. Batman grows significantly as he becomes more hopeful and relies on faith. A side of Batman we haven’t seen on film, which is a good natural progression from BVS. Steppenwolf is a stronger villain. Having a motivation of trying to get back on the good grace of darksied. The tone isn’t as depressing as BVS having many moments of levity and humour. Not as dower in general. The cinematography “no surprise” is amazing. The plot is not complex, but the characters make up for it. Yes the movie is long, they are broken up into parts so you can stretch and have a break. The pacing is surprisingly superb, not perfect, it doesn’t feel any less than 2 hours and 40 or so minutes, so it still feels long. The movie still has issues, slow motion is over used, especially in the first two parts, same with licensed music. I feel a lot of odd decisions in the editing and mixing can be found in those first two parts. The ending can be rather return of the king esc with its multiple endings which can be odd as the movie feels like it should have ended 15 minutes after it actually ends. But overall I really enjoy this film, this is what I look to find in a superhero movie which marvel doesn’t deliver for me. It has a great progression which when you finish the movie you have the same sense after reading a novel, which is of accomplishment. It even left me inspired and high in spirits. Which is another first for a zack Snyder film. I liked his other two movies. Man of steel is a decent superhero story and BVS ultimate edition is a gritty take on how superhero’s would be represented in real life, being bold and having complex themes and taking risks. Zack learned from what didn’t work in those films and made a great superhero movies. I won’t go on much further but I was not expecting to like this movie all that much. And I wasn’t an avid release the Snyder cut advocate only having an ear out occasionally. But as you can tell, I was really surprised. I now support #restorethesnyderverse.
