I feel like to really appreciate a movie, you have to have almost no knowledge about films. Like this is a HORROR film in every sense. It's uneasy, it's classic, and it makes the film an actual horror film. It uses traditional values like the "he's behind me isn't he?" when he isn't. The acting is really good, the concept was great and even though it was predictable, it was captivating. The people shaming this movie are the same people who think that "Friday the 13th" Is the pinnacle of horror. This movie was objectively really good and strong and even heartbreaking. I recommend watching this not only for the scares but for the plot line. Modern horror isn't supposed to scare us anymore, it's supposed to shock and captivate us. Of course it's predictable because horror fans have basically seen everything they can in older films. Just because the scares aren't new and the plot may be repetitive, this movie is refreshing and cinematically scary.
