As many others have said this was a poorly written script. I don't know if they hired a consultant for this movie because it sure seems like they didn't do near enough research. I don't know how many times I yelled at the characters that were supposed to be looking for Hatchet who inexplicably found themselves in areas where they were surprised when Hatchet came through the door and they had their back to him and of course were taken out or the snivelling useless chaplain was taken captive. So many holes in this plot and so much appareht incompetency for so many of what should have been experts in their field. Just a really dumb movie in my opinion.

An intersting story in and of itself with some moments that will hold your interest but some uneven acting and a number of holes in the plot that were almost a bit much. Many scenes ran way longer than was necessary in order to get this to a 2 + hour movie. The last sequence could have been written better and the very ending could have been done better and just reinforced the theme of inexplicable writing that pervades through the movie.

Save yourself an hour and a half of investing time in this movie only to have an inexplicable violent ending by an otherwise very mild mannered character. There are also a lot of other unanswered questions that with just a little more effort the writers could have fixed. There are more holes in the plot than a box of Swiss cheese. The cinematography was good and the acting was decent. It's the only thing that kept this from being only 1 star. It seems to follow a pattern that for some inexplicable reason Hollywood writers think We want to relate with the main characters only to make us not like any of them by the end of the film.

There was a lot of intensity in this movie and you definitely are sucked into the plight of the people held captive. There were way too many holes in the plot for me and things that just didn't add up. At some point you are angry with many of the supposed victims for some of the choices they made or should have made. And after all that these people go through the ending is less than satisfying no matter how chilling it is.
