The whole idea of this movie is based upon a very absurd and unbelievable situation. Even the worst storytellers can come up with a script with less flaws than this one let alone the meaningless slow pace,mediocre acting, etc. It is really funny that this movie has high ratings by critics and of course they know it is worthless cinema-wise but I guess their ratings are not based upon true and honest evaluation. They simply do not have the decency and courage to speak up against mainstream even in case of awful movies like this one.

there are so many good things about this movie such as: fine rhythm, mature comedy, beautiful cinematography, attractive and smart story-telling...but I really liked the way that the narration was almost always about the future of people which was interesting and I will never forget the line "You play with babies and you end up washing diapers!"

the film was not a great movie considering some useless side stories (conflict between the director and the actor, federico's appearance, so much talk about physical pain without any help given to the story) and worst than that bizarre coincidences(finding the painting, federico showing out of the blue).I dont know that almadovar wanted to add somthing from his own life to the movie or not but if yes the result wasnt anything more than a not well-sorted memo. There were some good things though like: being colorful, and mild use of music

If you stop the movie on each frame you have a painting and that means intelligent and great cinematography. Outstanding actings, well designed story structure, feminine and not feminist, attractive story, good symbolism.

There are no elements of drama in this movie. Everything was supposed to tell the audience that this transgender woman is in deep pain derived from brutality and selfishness of the society and she is a strong victim and there was not any other thing that the director wanted to say. All pain and pain and that's it. Let alone that lame scene of dancing in the club that could not fit in any line of story telling. A movie must be a movie not something else. It's a pity and a shock that this "movie" could win the oscar from a great film named Loveless in 2017.

The movie has reminded me of the beauty and greatness of the works of legendary Yasujiro Uzo. The meaning of family and love under tough circumstances were portrayed perfectly. Yamada made his own story and did not stop behind the charm of the masters of film making in Japan yet his intelligent deliberate resemblance codes in the movie were well architectured.

A fine combination of dreaming, music, simplicity, purity and joy. And surly there were some remarkable moments of laugh.
