Everyone else has written university style essays with there reviews about cowboy bebop.
its funny how that quote " the work which will become a genre itself will be called cowboy bebop " turned out to be so true. When i first watched this and mid way through i saw this quote i kind of chuckled and said now i see why so many rave about this show.
It is one of those shows that makes you think about your own life. The range of emotions that it makes you feel along with the incredible art style AND THE MUSIC. Who would have thought putting jazz and spacec cowboys together would work soooo well. It does not just work well, this is cowboy bebop after all, it works perfectly like both genres were always meant to be together.
I grew up in the 90's and never saw this but its funny how time goes by and more shows I watch a lot of times i catch myself saying " they don't make them like they use to" ex. some of Netflix's "anime's " where the art style just doesn't catch me. One that comes to mind is "Kengan Ashura".
I tried to show some younger kids this show and they said man this looks old hahaha I guess the black bar's threw them off. But when you really look at Cowboy Bebop. This is one of those shows that you show some one that says anime is for kids. Then they watch this and you realize anime isnt JUST anime. There are so many genres of anime. AND it CAN be shows for adults too because cowboy bebop has themes that perhaps only an adult can truly admire. A lot of the questions and themes could possibly just fly over a child's head. Just take the sub plot between spike and Julia and the question is what it means to love or to love someone else? Does it mean to throw everything away? Does it mean to be happy just to be with that person? These are questions when your younger you won't even know to ask. Even Adults have a hard time asking these questions.
The beauty of Cowboy Bebop is that it asks these questions sometimes through masterful silence. Other times through wonderful art and symbolism along with beautifully timed music that alone would have use feeling some type of way. It doesn't need to shove down our throats constant political or preachy messaging like some modern shows are doing. And along the way of asking these questions they throw some light heart fun ex. Ed and his/her?(I'm still not sure either) childlike nature.
Basically what I'm saying is that i was spoiled with todays constant 8 seasons shows so when i realized how "short" cowboy bebop is. By the time I finished it I was asking "Is that it? NOOOO, WHY I LOVED IT."
So if you STILL havent watched this and you think anime is for kids or dont know what to watch. WATCH COWBOY BEBOP. GO ON WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR.
