This film was yet another attempt to brutally degrade, disenfranchise and demean the African American community. Nothing but another movie about slavery and the benefits that white, patriarchal America benefited from it. It was disturbing, painful and difficult to watch. No wonder it didnโt do well. Monuments are being removed all over the country due racist, biased affiliations and positive conversations are just beginning to take place surrounding equality and equity, between individuals from all walks of life and socioeconomic standing; but you decide to make a film that highlights the complete opposite. I think the producers/directors took great joy in showcasing white supremacists' confederates who took great pleasure in re-living the abuse and abduction of the black race, covertly implementing their vitriolic aggression, attitudes and behaviors toward communities of brown and black people.
