Itโs a good concept, but the way they try to simplify history for kids doesnโt really do it service or teach kids the right lesson. Comparing systemic societal problems to minor disagreements among kids doesnโt work. For example, in the episode about Jackie Robinson, they compare not wanting a kid with a certain color jacket to play with them to segregation. What color coat a person is wearing one day is a changeable thing, not something a person is born with like their race or ethnicity.
In the episode about womenโs suffrage, they compare not letting a specific kid vote on what to put on a shelf to suffrage. The show points out that only men could vote in 1854, when actually only *white* men could vote (and some states still required property ownership or tax payment to vote) and slavery still existed in the U.S.
I know itโs for kids, but if youโre going to try to present complicated issues to kids that age, you need to be accurate and not water down the lesson so that it doesnโt really teach anything.
