I love a movie that gives voice to an inner monologue - the things people say to themselves that they would never say to anyone else. Wings of desire, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind etc. This is in that ball park. We live in an age less inspired with soul but this movie makes an attempt at ensoulment. It’s artistic, and the characters have some interesting dialogue and there is a journey and a theory of how love can occur here. I enjoyed this movie.

posting some realistic feedback because marketing agency bots now seem to be able to spam review sites. I’m driven to provide a counter balance. The marketing buzz seems to be the main thing they succeeded with. I was lookin forward to this movie but was disappointed. There is not much there. I was entertained but this movie was only just ok.

This movie is the only movie I have seen in the last decade that is about how life gets lived now. We are in danger of being a generation that leaves no remnants about what it’s like to live life. This is not simply a love or money drama but rather what money does to who we are and how we think about love. It captures the materialist oppression we live under that is just part of the atmosphere of the times - the water we are swimming in. It re-established my faith in cinema, that some people still know how to make films and have actual fresh ideas about how it should be done.

Starts out ok but then was just really boring with uninteresting characters about whom I was given no reason to care for by the story. Review ratings on google and IMDB are now inflated by marketing bots.

very very average. Natalie Portman cant act. Other than that, they had all the pieces i.e. money, production, nice scenery, but did nothing with the story or the characters. Left me feeling a bit empty.

Each time Ive watched a movie with Sofia Carson I have been confronted with a character with more grit and reality than I though I would see. She is great. This movie was time well spent. This is a good movie with a good heart and good characters.

So disappointing. Fire everyone involved in the re-writing of this into what is a farcical reproduction of the books. There needs to be a very different more artistic approach to the adaptation of these stories to tv. Those responsible for the adaptation need to ask what it is that the books convey to the reader. It is not just world building escapism and action thrills - you can get that anywhere. The books are themselves mythological and are about myth, struggle for control and love. The writers need to think about what that means. I could do a much better job of writing these books into a tv series than is on display here. Postcript: Season 2 is a massive improvement and is actually very good. I was disappointed in season 1 but am now back on board. 4 stars for season 2.

I actually enjoyed this movie more the second time around. The central plot paradox/moral choice that the Eternals are forced to make is actually quite profound and a little overwhelming the first time I was confronted with it. I appreciated it more the second time around when my sense were less dazzled by the action sequences and my cerebral cortex was functioning at a higher level in comparison to my limbic system. It's basically a movie outlining a moral choice that echoes some that we face as a civilization/global economy in the anthropocene. It's also a movie about preserving liberalism and freedom in the face of such choices i.e. its a movie about everything. It's cosmological in its moral scope, which is why it was hard to swallow the first time around.

This is well worth a watch. It is a bit more real than the average romance movie. The characters were likeable and decent people. The two leads didn't have epic chemistry but there was enough there and I warmed to them the longer I watched it.

I enjoyed this movie. A lot of the bad reviews seem to stem from shock at a frank portrayal of 90s lesbian culture. This didn't shock me because I had friends in that scene. I found the movie funny and warm and nostalgic.
