I read this book in the second grade and even as a Sophomore I still love it. The story line takes you on a realistically written out adventure of a porcelain doll that goes though the stages of being lost but not in a toy story cartoonish way but of being fragile, broken, and a lost you going through multiple owners who use Edward as a way to cheer themselves up or create slight satire for the audience. Edward Tulane is a brilliantly thought of character with complex emotions for a doll and with complex sub characters also joining him.
