In 1997 I was just 7 years old and had played what I, including many others, did not know would become the staple for RPG/JRPG/story telling video games known as Final Fantasy 7. Unbeknownst to many, this game would transform the way video games are not only played but told, and to this day remains my favorite game of all time. Final Fantasy 7 Remake was something I had desired ever since I first saw Cloud re-imagined in Kingdom Hearts and later in the movie Advent Children. I wanted to see Cloud and the others in a world completely voiced over with a fresh coat of paint all over again. 23 years later the remake has arrived and I can happily say the wait was well worth it. This game well exceeded my expectations and has given me hope for future installments. Although the game does stray from the originals story design towards the end, I'm confident the Square Enix team is well aware of the importance of this game to many and will not disappoint. Do yourself a favor and experience, in my opinion, the best story ever told.
