So much better than anything else on TV right now. Such a pleasure after watching that paint by numbers Ozark season - "shameless" forced plot gimmick of bipolar brother who won't take his meds and somehow moves four major characters to take actions completely contrary to their characters, even though you've never seen him before. Beat you over the head emasculation metaphor including a literal horse and human castration, we got it even before Wendy said it out loud. We see human beings dealing with frailties in subtle ways that are touching, painful, awkward, and awful.

Another attempt to retell history into a contemporary agenda losing any real feel for the time or gravity of the moment. Feels ike the high school musical version of WWIi, except those actors can all sing better than Julia Brown. The direction and acting provides no real feel the characters are going through any of the events they are experiencing except for moments when someone gives an acting 101 serious look face. Was hoping it would meet the level I expect from Masterpiece. It fell woefully short. But, it does hit all the tropes today's critics love.

For something so woke, it kept putting me to sleep.
