I wish they just would have ended this with the series. I’ll be honest, I have never read the books and I’m not greatly familiar with the historical truths, so I am looking at this strictly from an entertainment perspective. The movie felt completely disconnected from the series. Aethelstan was vicious and completely unrecognizable he was so heartless. They tried to tease a relationship with Uhtred and Eadgifu which was ridiculous. And while the first part of the movie was slow, the storyline felt rushed and squeezed into a 2 hour movie just to get it over with. Loved The Last Kingdom and have even watched it more than once. But could have done without the movie. Disappointing!
