feel the need to write a review to get these ratings up. people who are giving lower stars simply don’t understand the true meaning behind the movie, which is what it means to be human.
at first glance this feels like a dystopia where i think a lot of people felt let down, as this movie instead explores a metaphorical outlook on human emotion through these strange cracks that appear only when emotions run high. i believe these appear on the individuals who ‘die’ in the dystopian reality in order to convey the bursting of strong emotions.
the alternative reality element is a beautiful addition to this story and can get very depressing at times (in a good way ofc), but i feel that the main purpose of this movie is to explore the idea of love and how this basically constructs the reality around you.
such an emotional masterpiece.
