I had so much hope for this movie, as I LOVED the 1st one and felt it to be so strong musically, artistically, and emotionally. Summary: Likes-Animation, Moana's new outfit, the end "surprise", coconuts return :) Dislikes- new annoying/unneeded characters, poor soundtrack, choppy/poorly written, lack of emotion, villain (not as special as the 1st with a backstory) This movie had humor, but 9/10 times the joke was very forced or so bad...you laughed at the fact at who had the joke was. The music was not as beautifully composed or written. More so "chants" and songs that would be hard to sing along. Similar to some of those forgetful Encanto songs. The new characters are "forced" and not my favorite. I really would have enjoyed just seeing Maui and Moana as a duo again, instead of a random group of people...even Maui questioned Moana's recruiting skills. lol I miss the beauty it showed with the culture of Polynesian heritage and the magic of Disney combined. I will say, it does have a beautiful ending (similar to that of the original)...but up until that portion of the movie...it was very hard to enjoy and appreciate like the 1st movie. I'm sad, as I was so looking forward to this. I was hoping it was going to be another Frozen--> Frozen 2 combo of increasing talent, art, music, and storytelling.
