This is an extraordinary film tribute to RENT author Jonathan Larson which also a tribute to Broadway and especcially the modern Broadway musical directed by HAMIlLTON writer and star Lin Manuel Miranda. As well as incorporating a host of cameo performances from Broadway luminaries past and present and a performance from West Wing star Bradley Whitfield which brings Stephen Sondheim back to life, the film stars, in what must be his greatest performance to date, Andrew Garfield. Garfield who looks uncannily like Jonathan Larson, inhabits the role and unquestionably deserves to win the Oscar he missed out on for Hackshaw Ridge. See this film; it turns out to be Jonathan Larson’s second great musical.
