Cotton has no idea what hes talking about. His ideas are trash. Rediculous asumption and research. He has no idea about what amout of punishment is the right amout. Who is he to make the judgment? How does he deem himself qualified? He is not qualified to determine what is the right amount. He is not qualified for Congress either. Any amout of punishment that futher decreases a persons mental capacity for coping with society is too much punishment. Most prisoners will be released and will be reintegrated into society making that society weaker. Not only that but all the families those incarcerated leave behind leave children to be raised alone by single mothers most likely on public assistance & likely causing a string of generational incarceration. Is that not "too much" how much is too much. Anyone that is placed in an institution by the government should be made better off than befor not worse for it. Overpunishment is not a Myth. It is an ugly fact, not only is it happening but it is making American society weaker and increased mental illness/homelessness. Check that data.
