I found this book an amazing portrait of a black Southern city. It is written in two time periods which gives the story more depth.
And there was a touch of suspense that kept me reading ! This book is historic fiction at its best. Birmingham in 1929 was home
of the Klan. Then in 2019 there was Black Lives Matter movement. I highly recommend this powerful novel.
