Interesting premise, but poor characterization. The science problems presented were overly complicated and not always well suited to the narrative as it unfolds. This is especially true in the chaotic moments where amazing feats of science and engineering are unconvincingly performed.
The tired premise of this book is that life exists everywhere in the universe. I’d like to see some brave science-fiction writer assume the opposite, for once.
