to me, a bingeworthy show means I don't find myself multitasking on my phone while watching. Exhibit A: NHIE.
NHIE is not your conventional show for good reason. It features a dark-skinned Indian American protagonist navigating in suburban high school life. So many elements make this show stand out: crazy rumors, the storyline, grief, and love.
Personally, I love this show for its many details: from nervously looking out of your crush's car window while on edge of knowing you had 15 minutes to get home, to hearing a song on the radio for the first time and associating it with the purchase of your first home, to having trouble focusing on that one good moment of being kissed when unwelcoming flashbacks keep interfering.
I found this show on a whim and am so glad that I did. This show keeps 100% of my interest, I can actually feel that I am part of the family while on the outside looking in. Besides the occasional F bombs, the protagonist is totally relatable and down to earth. When watching, I feel like I'm not intruding and am actually learning about life as an Indian American.
two words: season two.
