A very well acted production that comes over as a close-to-how-it-was period drama, but it is not without some critique.
Cromwell is portrayed as likely as close as we can surmise his life/traits to have been historically, albeit with what are probably the writers' speculative touches.
I felt some of Henry's and thus Cromwell's issue/actions were brushed over somewhat. In this respect I particularly refer to the uprising that was 'The Pilgrimage of Grace', born out of the reformation/dissolution act ,which barely gets the gravitas it surely required at the time. HBO's 'The Tudors', stylized as that may be, quite rightly took this matter more seriously.
Henry's court, especially in the latter years is also populated with many a person above the average life expectancy of the time and it includes actors in the production that are there for the sake of diversity.
In short it gets close to the mark and is worthy of one's time and yet it could have been more....
