I felt that turning the focus away from storytelling and tailoring a player experience only weakened the games multiplayer experience.
The game failed to build upon its predecessors in a way that I found satisfying enough to justify its absent campaign. Instead what was found was a murky mess of a lore told though bland and outright boring tutorials especially when compared to previous titles.
As for the multiplayer, it seems that they chose to double down on the operator system and addressed complaints of their overpowered offensive abilities and troublesome more passive abilities but making them both active by default and making them charge far quicker than before.
Time to kill is completely off, the guns evoke no real sense realism as they elected to go for an entirely fantasy cast of firearms, and the maps leave plenty to be desired in terms of sight lines and flanking.
To end on a positive note, zombies is back and fairly enjoyable, as they appeared afraid of changing up their safe formula too much. The have the same set up of a complex large map, a simpler smaller map, and a classic map even featuring the old cast that they seem hesitant to let go. The zombies is fun, the multiplayer leaves much to be desired, the battle royal is perhaps my least favorite on the market, and the campaign is nowhere to be found.
