I began playing 5 years ago. I fell in love with the game in Heavensward and it just kept getting better as the story grew with each expansion - probably the best I have yet encountered in any movie, book, or game. Now a new story begins in Dawntrail. Dawntrail was definitely better then ARR for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the story up to the inauguration of the Dawnservant. As a mother, I had no problems taking a mentor role and found it cute and lighthearted. I thought the side quests and MSQ were great and felt like what I had come to expect from FFXIV. Now, the second half of the Dawntrail story after the induction of the dawnservant was harder for me to enjoy- but simply because I will never be a fan of western or big modern city environs. So I cant hold that against the game. The MSQ and side quests in the latter half did feel less substantial and reminded me of my first impressions of ARR. OK but not great. There was alot of potential for some very strong story in Alexandria but it just never got fleshed out. SO with all that done, I was still smiling at the end of the game as I watched the credits. As the beginning of a new era of story telling. I had never expected it to be on par of Endwalker. I am pleased with what I got even if all of it didnt totally suit my tastes. I am glad I played Dawntrail and I look forward to seeing the progression of this next great story that Square Enix will create. Thanks to the all who developed it <3
