Wow, some of the people commenting here are just HUGE idiots. The first 1 star review said it "lacks a coherent plot." Regardless, I think the movie was OK.
SPOILERS
so there's this guy in the movie who has a pretty significant portion of the movie dedicated to his backstory, his backstry being that he played a sitcom character in a sitcom featuring a monkey that wears clothes. One day, a balloon popped and the monkey started beating the hell out of everyone onset, the monkey, however, spared the character in question.
Some bozos here seem to think that this scene makes zero sense, but right after the backstory scene, it's pretty much revealed that the character thinks they have some sort of affinity for wild animals, and they try to tame the UFO by feeding it a horse they bought from the main character. They, however, are eaten by the UFO along with their kids(?) and the crowd they brought to watch. Additionally, this scene foreshadows the ending where the bad UFO eats a balloon and dies. Good, the story makes sense. Too bad the monkey scene is really bad.
The monkey scene is significantly more funny than it should be. Whenever a balloon pops (which was already contrived and kinda forced) the screen cuts to black, and screams are heard as a stock gorilla sound plays. I think that was supposed to be scary, not funny.
This really should have been shortened or cut out, maybe replaced with a short scene where he describes the monkey event, I think that may help you understand how the one-who-was-spared-by-the-monkey feels anyway, because I felt a bit in the dark until towwsbtm revealed his plan to tame the UFO.
Other than that, the movie was pretty good. It was a little hard to understand what was happening at times, character motives and why characters were where they were didn't always click until after the event.
The movie really struggles with coherence in general, that's probably why a lot of stupid people (I feel smart now !!!!!) Didn't appreciate the movie for its true OKness
Also it shows a dead guy at the beginning, which is way different than all the other gore which are just offscreen deaths and blood. Some of the ideas were farfetched like the aforementioned balloon, how the UFO moves around like a sailboat or something (it could really just be defeated by getting caught on a tree), why the UFO transformed at the end, and the UFO being alive, but that stuff doesn't matter too much.
It's pretty good. I'm not big on movies but I would not give it 1 star (even though when most people see a star rating system they just use 1 for "dont like" and 5 for "it was good")
