Superman Movie Review: A Tale of Two Generations
Today, I watched a Superman movie and couldn’t help but compare it to the one that was released in 2013, directed by Zack Snyder. There’s a clear difference between the two.
The 2013 version, directed by Snyder, felt like it was made for men — mature, intense, and grounded in a darker, more realistic world. It portrayed Superman as a complex character burdened with responsibility, and the tone of the film reflected that depth.
In contrast, the 2025 version feels like it was made for boys — lighter, more colourful, and filled with hope. It’s saturated with positivity and presents Superman more as an inspirational symbol than a conflicted hero.
The difference between the two is striking: the 2013 film shows the dark reality of being a hero, while the 2025 film offers a more optimistic, almost idealistic version of Superman’s world.
Overall, both films have their strengths, but they cater to very different audiences and emotional tones. My thoughts on this became more than just impressions
