If you ever heard an old radio show like Phillip Marlowe, Sam Spade, or Johnny Dollar, this is what it might look like with video. Gritty. Depression era. There is not a dollar to be found in town for the average man. They do a good job relaying this. The Angel’s Flight and Pacific Electric trolleys are historically accurate. So, it’s a good detective tale set in an earlier time. The acting and casting is exceptionally good, and in the interest of brevity I won’t tell you why. Judged for what it is, it’s done well. If you are a professional reviewer, maybe you should judge it as that. If you lament that it is not a series about a hard-living female pilot, or lamenting that the acting is not to your taste, it that you have a man-crush on the main actor, maybe you should remember that you can always make your own series.
