game is a breath of fresh air in a genre full of games that want to be "aggressive and rushdown". Nice change of pace imo

NGL I'm in the minority where like this anime is SUPER overrated. The plot is super slow, some episodes serve 0 purpose for existing,many and I mean MANY of the characters are unlikeable and its unnecessarily long imo. I get they wanted the characters to be "realistic" but it doesnt change the fact that many of the characters are unlikeable and are also gross(insert misato and shinji scenes here you know the ones). I will give the anime credit as the animation still holds up and it is definitely a monumental pillar for anime coming to the west. But, I feel like other shows tackle its subject matter better and in a shorter time frame(watch madoka magica lol). Not to mention I think the creator is SUPER hypocritical as he said evangelion is "a critique of otaku culture" when evangelion literally became the textbook example of what it was critiquing(a LOT of fanservice,merch and more) to the point where you can literally live off of evangelion merch lol. I will say tho eoe is still a beautifully animated movie.

I watched this show for the 1st time during quarantine with some friends in a vc. I enjoyed it my 1st time through but, I really didnt appreciate it until my 2nd watch through. You can really tell they planned everything for this anime with very clever foreshadowing all the way from the 1st episode. The show covers a variety of dark subject matter such as abuse,grooming,self harm,depression and more. Despite it having a cute exterior Madoka Magica has some of the most realistic depictions of these topics I've seen in ANY piece of media and does a brilliant job demonstrating it through the guise of the magical girl genre. The main 5 girls are all great and all serve their purpose for the story as well (tho the main stars r definitely madoka,sayaka and homura) and the anime's art style and animation still look GREAT to this day. DEFINITELY a must see.
