Very fun watch. Good mix of comedy and minor thrills. ‘The Menu’ plays out almost like a mystery thriller, with details about the chef and customer’s lives being revealed as the show goes on. Nice ensemble of actors. Similar to Knives out 2 in multiple ways.
It’s designed to parody luxury dining experiences, with the theme being the fact that these luxury restaurants attract ungrateful guests, who are only really there for the clout, and bar-out the common folk. Which kills the experience for the chef. I suppose the opposite of this restaurant would be a food truck with a simple, delicious, and cheap menu, where anyone is welcome to enjoy the food.
I tend to lose interest in movies and will just stop watching if not entertaining enough. This one managed to keep me on the hook the whole time. It doesn’t have a lot of rewatch value but it was great the first time around. 4/5 stars for a comedy thriller, with a better ending 5/5. Not gonna spoil anything but the ending was too simple/depressing for my taste. Could have been a lot more chaotic, or have had 1 or 2 characters develop into real human beings at the end.
