*SPOILERS* Not the worst thing I've ever seen but definitely not the best. It does its job as a cheesy, predictable action flick. I watched the first Meg and actually got a few chuckles out of it but the second one rarely made me crack a smile. The new characters are somewhat unlikable and the writing is honestly worse than the first, in my opinion. I ended up exclaiming how frustrating and stupid the characters, writing, and plot was multiple times throughout the film. Characters having limited oxygen to walk 3km under water but choosing to stand around talking and looking at pretty sea creatures is one of many to choose from. Also, DJ randomly knows Kung fu now and chooses to use it instead of the gun he randomly pulls out of his bag and wastes bullets by shooting into the air for effect. Also, the new "bad guys" are unbelievable stupid to watch and listen to. They are almost comically evil in their delivery. Best part of the movie and one I actually smiled at is when Jess (blonde, glasses tech girl bad guy) gets hillariously eaten. Overall, it's an aquatic version of the Jurrasic Park remakes and just like their sequels, it falls very short of the first one.
