This movie is, I have to say, by far the biggest disappointment the Marvel Cinematic Universe had ever pulled. I just wonder what were they even thinking when writing the script for this movie, abysmal even compared to the other Marvel movies. I may be, by far, not the most avid fan of the franchise as many other films, single or in a series, tend to be so much better. It shall also be stated that the MCU is heavily overrated but I still like some movies. However, I cannot accept this absolute waste of a movie. First off, when I first started it, I came in with high expectations as the MCU is decently credible. However, almost simultaneous with the official start of the movie, I was already yelling at all the illogical points of the movie in the first ten minutes. Moviegoers are lucky that I streamed the movie at home and did not go to the theaters. As the movie continued, I was so confused that it skips forward 21 years. When I observe the moment that message on the screen, I knew I was skipping out on an overwhelming load of context. Can't the filmmakers understand that most viewers have not watched the entire franchise, let alone read a single COMIC? Come on, we are just casual watchers and most people expected an origin story for Black Widow as this is the trend for every movie with a title that is the name of its main character. In the whole movie, almost nothing was given about her origins except mentions about the Red Room and that she made an assassination attempt in order to defect to shield. Other than those few mentions, no other point was made, leaving me heavily confused and dissatisfied. There were so many plot points the filmmakers failed to explain, such as the chemical used for the other widows, the face swap device, how the Red Guardian went to jail, or Dreykov's origins, along with many other plot holes as they are too numerous to list. We would really like if they had filmed why these plot holes were able to happen but I guess they could not write a better plot to cover these wide holes. Another aspect that many moviegoers watch the MCU for is its usually spectacular CGI. However, they decided to add cheap CGI for when the Red Room gets destroyed. And I mean like the terrible explosions ones. Why did the MCU not take the time to produce better visual quality. After all, isn't DISNEY, the monopoly in the film industry, funding the movie. This is a testament at how they gave up on the entire movie and hoped that unsuspecting victims would go and watch this film. Now at this point of this rant, it must be said that the biggest let-down was the portrayal of Taskmaster. We don't want some woman hastily made up on the spot behind the suit. We want the actual comic hero behind it that Marvel fans love. Overall, the plot was written as if by a four year old toddler. Just watch Captain America and the Winter Soldier as that movie is basically the same plot. Don't even bother paying to watch this on Disney Plus or in theaters. It is not worth it. Even illegally streaming it is not worth your time. This rant would been even longer if I had enough space and separated it into paragraphs.
