I think this movie was stunning, with amazing lore and battle scenes. The characters were interesting, especially Nimona. I can see why soke thought of it as slow paced or a bit overstuffed in some parts, but overall for a Netflix original, I think its pretty good. To any parents thinking of watching it but may be hesitant- if you are fine with a show case of lgbtq+ as well mild show of injury (a persons arm getting cut off, impaled) then its overall good!
I am a bit sad that most of this will be on relfect of the reviews, instead of how amazing the movie is... buttttt
Now to address the concerns of Christian people/ those uncomfortable with any of the LGBTQ+
Point 1: "Children should not see political manadering such as the LGBTQ+ in children shows and movies."
I know one can get frustrated at that, because Netflix and other companies do show too much for children's show/movies. But as an adult, you should know the difference between false representation, and actual representation. I genuinly think Nimina did an amazing job showing a gay man's relationship. Typically in media, one of them dies or becomes the bad guy, in this it doesn't 'push' the agenda and instead feels realistic. If one of them were a woman, it'd still feel genuine.
As for the counter, as stated above, if the relationship was straight I am sure none of you would care... like at all. The hypocrisy in most of the argument is if it showed christian values, again- none of you would be mad and in fact defend it deapite it having christian values.
What I find more ironic, is the fact that Nimona was outcasted for her differences the main point of the entire movie that people who find others different treat them different. Hell, its not even in the sides, its on the nose! An entire insitution built against those who are different!
(Whats even worse is that Nimona and the blond chick who I forgot the name to 🥲 were great friends. Until her parents and village reacted negativily to Nimona did she hate her...)
Point 2: "I should've gotten a warning on the kissing or the pg rating to be at least 13+"
I agree, in most media we've had for that age group in Netflix, we've had warnings so that parents can know what their children are seeing. Though, where im most concern in this argument that I am seeing everywhere is none is talking about the fights or 'gore'. I am an adult, and even I was a bit suprrised to see a mans arm get chopped off, blood and implement. Since most ignore this- I either assume three things, you don't care and only see the gay stuff as the problem (which, grow up you are an ADULT, people aren't always straight), you haven't watched it and are going off by what others have said, or you are blind to your hypricosy on what children can and can not watch
Point 3: "It's going against my beliefs plain and simple."
Out of all of these, I think this is the most palable one. You in this free country should be allowed to not watch and discuss your displeasure- but just as you should be allowed to do so, so can I and media. The companies should be allowed to show homosexual relationships or really anything as long as it contains warning of the such. You don't have to watch it, you can force your kid not to watch it as well. While I disagree on those teachings mostly, it's in your right.
Thats really all... plus I doubt most that support anti-LGBTQ+ will read this far... I hope they do though I wrote a lot ðŸ˜
