Not sure why this movie was made. It felt like a made for tv version of the original. While the visuals were gorgeous there was little character development. It lacked the gravitas of the first film and the dialogue suffered from weak delivery. The twin emperors were paper thin characters lacking both the dark menace of Joaquin Phoenix’s, commodus and his deep psychological wounds.
