(SPOILERS!!!) I’m biased because I’m a fan of the books. It’s just not the Wheel of Time; the show borrows the basic plot line/narrative, and the rest of the world is tampered with in a way that I feel presents, as an example, the players as parodies of the originals; Nynaeve jumping in the sack with Lan Season 1? Matt is a thief with a dark soul and may be easily corrupted, rather than a good-natured, caring friend who’s goodness protected him from being overwhelmed by the dagger’s dark influence. Rand lamely figuring out he’s the dragon, unlike the bad@?! fight scene at the end of book one. And then the anachronisms. A strong majority of the show-world is non-novel based details. A lot of the men in the show seem to be neutered intellectually and emotionally. Killing of awesome characters way early, if they were even killed at all. Within the finale, the awesome (book) battle scene between Rand and the two Forsaken at the Eye of the World, in its beauty as a tropical oasis in the Blight with the tree guy whose name I forgot, and his transportation to the Taimon’s Gap to use magic(very vividly written and exciting), is absent. Last thing(big spoiler!!!), Nynaeve killed in the finale? We know she’s coming back(for fans of the books who know the story; watchers exclusively of the show are being deceived with a Game of Thrones Jon Snow Season 5 ending kinda deal. I can see it coming a mile away). And honestly, the writings not all that great. As I said before, it’s just not the Wheel of Time(and I hate it). The finale has convinced me that the writers either don’t understand the series, or are more concerned with pressing their own vision(and personal worldview) onto a beloved series- “fixing” the things “wrong” with the original novel series. Game of Thron…I mean Wheel of Time deserves better than this.
