Hear me out 🤚😬🖐️.(Spoilers)
The predators power level seemed inconsistent throughout the movie. He ends up being defeated…by his own weapon/device in a way that could’ve been easily avoided to the point I question his intellect and instincts as a warrior? No offense 🙏 . I wanted to love Naru’s character but it just wasn’t executed well. Though a different situation, Alexa Woods from AVP Alien v.s Predator is a good example of a strong female character. She valued rationale above all. I respected her intelligence and merit, she had grit without the impulsivity. This made it unimportant that she was a woman and more she’s just a cool character regardless. I felt the movie could’ve executed the whole girl power thing better with Naru because the validation Naru craves drives her to make questionable decisions. If I knew I didn’t even have a deer hunted under my belt why In my right mind would I go after a predator I know nothing about alone far away from my tribe. These impulsive decisions made it hard for me to think she had satisfying character progression. I mean, she spends most of the movie hiding or running instead of hunting (Besides tracking, she’s a good tracker). Deer ❌ Lion❌Grizzly Bear❌ this is a big part to why the end fight with the predator seems unbelievable, above all. Bringing up Alexa Woods character again, (😅) she assessed her situation and didn’t rush head first, gathered information and stood grounded, which is important if you want to survive against a creature you have no data about.
But, I love the Native American background!! More movies should have indigenous stories!👍 (Plus cute dog 🐕) Badass female characters that best even male characters with slyness, cleverness, grit, can work!🙏 It just has to be done the right way. Good movie to watch if your bored, just don’t think too hard 😅
