Sam Hemmings

It felt like the film ended just as it was getting interesting and warming up. It was good though.

I've just finished episode 2, and I can't take this series seriously as a drama/thriller but the trouble that's piling up on the main protagonist is comical.

Daniel Brühl is, as ever, excellent. Minor spoiler alert! The character 'Jacques De Bascher' irritated me, not for his attitude but because, despite being a young social peacock, a dilettante, party loving, celebrity mixing guy close to the biggest names of the fashion industry...he didn't change his look at all, over a period of about ten years! He had the same nice neat haircut and same moustache for the whole series!? Change it up a bit eh!

The R.T score for this film is a travesty! It deserves far better.

Visually stunning, with grit and soul. I wasn't sure about watching it because from the trailer I thought it was going to be a bit too romanticised for my taste (shots of Emily Blunt in pretty Victorian dresses on horseback) but although romance is a part of it, there's far more to it than that.
