My Little Pony was never designed to please the adult audience, to be extremely complex, and children do not have a critical census, one basic thing is enough to please them. That's why give this series three stars, since it still reaches the target audience.
If the producers tried to develop something new, without knowing what to do I think the result would be worse, so much so that they did old MLP that lasts a decade, and it is much safer to make an inferior copy of the old one, than to create a new thing with adequate quality.
But the old series showed the world to a child the way it is, being an educational cartoon that sent a message, but without that poor business of children's animation that says "Don't sleep late, obey your parents, respect people ... ".
Old MLP taught children about how people behaved, and even talked about politics as opposed to a common children's drawing that does nothing. And a drawing influences a person a lot, especially in making children.
Many of the old characters shared values, I identified with them, with their personalities, with the situations they had, admired their qualities. In the new drawing I don't identify with any of them.
This drawing that they released is not so bad, but it does not have what the old one had, aside from the animation, the stories that are inferior, and I really missed the 4th generation.
