Matt Hockley

I loved the previous RE films so far as owning copies and I liked this show a lot. There's lots to love and it is a refreshing take on the RE universe. I found the plot very strong and loved how the directors built the world and story introducing characters. Lots of action / scares. It feels similar to RE in games from what I've seen and building around the RE films. That said... (without spoilers) there was one plot trigger which annoyed me enough to drop it from 5 / 5. (All I'll say is... security?). Others have complained about the teenage drama and compared it to Riverdale (Netflix other IP) but I found it so much better and not the typical 2 dimensional with a forced relationship. Some of the decisions whilst silly to adults, I could see 14 year olds making those decisions. The filmatograohy and cgi were amazing and incorporated much of what I loved from the RE films and games. Lots of RE references and I loved seeing the pressures before the inevitable release of the zombie apocalypse. This I feel has been missing from many zombie films which often fixate on the mass zombie cascade of infection in season 1 which is entertaining but drops off fast to typical Zombie tropes. Clearly there's a lot more which can be explored in later seasons. One of the better zombie film / TV shows I've seen in a while even with one or two flaws. I highly recommend it.
