How often do we get to see two gifted actors with award winning credentials together on the same screen at the top of their game? If you were to dissect this film into its two major components, one about an exploited funeral home director, the other about a flashy, brash and ultimately Ali-like gladiator, each story would be compelling, entertaining, educational, and powerfully dramatic. If you feel for the weight of humanity and the uncommon ability of just a couple of folks cut from plain cloth to change history, this well dressed courtroom smash-up by Maggie Betts and Doug Wright will have you standing up, cheering as you drop your popcorn to applaud renewed hope for American exceptionalism.
