People who give this game 1 star have the right to do so but in my opinion are just victim to group think and are still upset that a certain character died from violence in a violent world and setting.
The entire theme of the second game is that violence doesn't end violence and I thought it accomplished that wonderfully. The gameplay is much better and more dynamic than the first game and I felt fairly tense throughout the entirety of the game.
The boss fights are more challenging, creative, and rewarding. It does get a little long near the end and it's definitely not a happy story, but in reality that world is too brutal and real for it to end in a happy story where Joel and Ellie ride off into the sunset.
Playing as Abby allowed for the gamer to sympathize with her, and actually grow conflicted in whether Ellie is even justified or right in her vengeance. 5/5
