I have not read the book, so no input there. Reading other reviews, it appears viewers either really like the movie or think it's absolutely awful. I liked the movie for the most part. In fact, I watched it again, knowing the full story, so I could understand Jamie's seeming reluctance to get into a serious relationship and capture the nuances of poetry and dialogue foreshadowing what was to come. That made me appreciate the movie more. I won't watch again, though. I am tired of movies where the leads meet, fall into bed together and are "in love" immediately. There's never time to develop the relationship, so I guess that's how it goes. I really liked Corey Mylcreest in Queen Charlotte. I think he did a good job with a character not fully developed. I hope his upcoming projects allow him to showcase his talent through characters with substance and variety. I agree with others that Sophia Carson's performance was lackluster, focusing more on her appearance than displaying the emotions and variety the storyline should have warranted. Both of the leads looked perfect in every scene; not a hair out of place, immaculately dressed, etc. This brings me to my main complaint - how could Jamie not show effects of chemotherapy treatment or a "critical pneumonia"? Not many end-stage cancers, compromised immune system or severe pneumonia allow the person to look and act completely healthy. I appreciated that things were not tied up in a pretty bow at the end, but it was so convoluted. On a different note, did others notice the parallels and even dialogue from Queen Charlotte? It got rather humorous. Oh, and it was nice to watch a show without hearing the F-word in every sentence!
