Ugh, Blake Lively is just not a good actress. I don’t even see much of a difference between her character of Lily and the “character” she plays in real life… in other words, she just comes off as not authentic. Not having read the book, I don’t know what is missing or embellished, but the movie felt strained, the supporting characters lacked depth and believability, and the message got lost. It also sad that Livelys’ promotion of the film had people thinking it was a romcom, as evident by many of the comments here, and it just isn’t. Honestly, her laissez faire attitude is really insulting to survivors of domestic violence, which is who I thought Baldoni wanted to respect and lift up with this film, though I don’t think he’s the biggest problem here… at least I could feel his passion to some degree.
