I’m an old time fan and to be honest, I really enjoyed the movie. The direction by JJ Abrams is phenomenal and light years ahead of Lucas’ capabilities because his direction always seemed to be to be very flat. This form you could feel the hopelessness in parts, you could feel the frustration and the hope.
One of the things I didn’t like about this film was the same complaint I had with Solo. It almost moved too fast and didn’t allow the characters to develop as much. Good thing was, I’ve read many of the books in the new cannon so this tied a lot of stuff together for me. It was an awesome conclusion to the Skywalker trilogy, and the characterization was awesome..
