Honestly. What was that? Just a train wreck from start to finish. Script- honestly, who wrote this? The most jumbled, unconnected, stilted storyline with no dialogue worth while. It’s like they had to film everything in 2 days so they made no effort to make things make sense. What should have been a beautiful tapestry turned into a convoluted, pile of nothing. Such a hard fall from the inspiring words of Maximus and Marcus Aurelius. The antagonist(s)- since they don’t have any real background story their behavior and actions don’t really make sense. You don’t like them but you don’t hate them because they are a bowl of luke warm nothing. There needed way more foundation building for it to have meaning. Now you could say that someone else was the antagonist but again underdeveloped storyline. No relationship building at all- Such a lack of true relationships that whenever someone dies, you just don’t care. It’s so rushed, the meaningful moments just don’t happen. The score- what in the 1980s was that. Just awful. The costumes and makeup- didn’t feel like I was in Rome but a bad Renaissance fair. Everything that made the first movie brilliant was missing. A cheap knockoff that was not worth watching. Which is so sad because this could have been absolutely brilliant. The idea was there but the reality of it falls very, very short.

Minor spoilers. Not that it will really hurt your viewing experience at all. Utterly disappointed- Huge Waste of Time. I have waited for this for years- The original 3 are a staple of our viewing. They told a legacy that was dynamic, intricate, and beautiful. This was- how to describe- boring, pointless, and cheap. It was just so bad. The plot- still don’t know what that was. The story was pointless. The action- randos off the streets could have arranged and conducted better fight scenes. The dialogue- stupid. Just stupid. Forced rehashing lines from the past and lackluster and out of place new dialogue. The setting- bright, poppy, and new! Which sucks cause that isn’t what the Matrix is about. New Morpheus- just no. It doesn’t make sense. New Smith- even worse. Gimmicky. No depth. Just no. Back history since Neo’s sacrifice- confusing and boring. Purpose of Neo being brought back now- no freaking clue. Purpose for keeping him and Trin alive all these years- see above. Transfer of power to Trin all of a sudden in 7 seconds before the movie ended- all the current rage but seriously undercut the previous movies and how great they were. The handholding- ah, yes- the power of friendship. Felt like a My Little Pony Movie. I could keep going. Such a huge waste when there was sooo much potential. The Matrix captivated the entire minds of people for over 20 years. Well, this is not going to capture much but the bargain bin at a discount video store.

Brilliantly done movie that took care to carefully fold in the intricate details of MCU. Great storyline, wonderful way to pull in the past, lovely connection between characters, soul shattering loss that brought things together. Love it. The writers for the MCU are brilliant. Thank you for taking such genuine care with the stories.
