This has got to be one of the most inspirational, heartwrenching and utterly breathtaking books that I have ever read.
Our dear friend Eddie, has shown every side of his story, the happy, the sad, the scary and the monterous. Eddie is not just a man, he is a survivor. And I must say, Mr Jaku, is a hero. He has educated so many people on the horros of the holocaust, education that is needed in this modern day and age.
I read this book in a couple of nights, it was so hard to put it down. The book drew me in like a moth to a lightbulb, i was stuck to it. I bought it while I was feeling depressed, I was looking through the book section at kmart actually, and the title "The worlds happiest man" struck my eye.
I believe it was fate, fate that drew me to this book. Not to be overdramatic, but it changed my life. Or at least improved my character as a whole.
I read this book every time I feel ungrateful. When I take my material, education and family for granted. It reminds me how in just moments, in mere days, everything can be strippen from you. You can go from thriving, to barely survivng. And that is scary.
What the nazis did is horrific, but I feel like its not talked about outside of 9th grade history class. It should be talked about more. Our world is on the brink of WWIII which is why i think WWII and holocaust discussions are more important than ever. There are still concerntration camps being used, there are still muslims, chinese, koreans, arabian and many more races and nationalities being held in concerntraion camps, just for existing.
TLDR; This book is very inspirational and educational. The teachings of Eddie Jaku and his word should be spread.
